OUR STORY
My 2nd Home Child Nurturing Center began with a simple dream: to create the kind of place where every child feels safe, loved, respected, and excited to learn.
As a husband-and-wife team, we bring nearly 60 years of combined experience in early childhood education. Throughout our careers, we have been blessed to learn from dedicated educators and professionals who deepened our understanding of child development and the importance of research-based learning. Those experiences continue to guide our work every day.
Our journey took on a new meaning when we became foster parents. Like every parent, we wanted the very best for the children in our care. As we searched for childcare, we realized it was difficult to find a place that offered the level of care, safety, and nurturing environment we were looking for. That experience inspired us to create the place we wished we had found.
That dream became My 2nd Home Child Nurturing Center.
For more than 20 years, our family has been centered around caring for children. We are blessed with three biological children and two daughters through adoption, and today our oldest children work alongside us. My 2nd Home is truly a family effort, built on love, teamwork, and a shared commitment to helping children thrive.
We believe children learn best when they feel secure, encouraged, and genuinely cared for. While a strong curriculum is important, we believe the relationships children build with trusted adults are just as meaningful. That belief shapes every classroom, every activity, and every interaction.
We are also passionate about building a sense of community. Throughout the year, we bring families together through events like our annual Family Day and our multicultural Thanksgiving lunch, where families share dishes that represent their traditions and cultures. We maintain a community book cabinet to encourage a love of reading and, whenever we have the opportunity, we share food with families because we believe caring for children also means caring for the people who love them.
Our family has experienced both joy and challenges, and those experiences have strengthened our belief that every child deserves to grow up in a place where they feel accepted, supported, and valued. They have also taught us the importance of treating every family with kindness, compassion, and respect.
Our motto, "Celebrating Diversity, Promoting Equality," reflects the community we strive to build every day. We welcome families from all backgrounds and believe that every child brings something unique and valuable to our center.
